Blizzcon 2013: Diablo III Reaper of Souls Expansion

Blizzard Entertainment is about to drop a lot of new features for players of Diablo III.  New game modes, new game systems, clans and group, and more. Check out the snazzy trailer below. The expansion is set to be released sometime in 2014.

South Park: The Stick Of Truth Gameplay

So there's this seven minute video of the upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth game and it is bloody brilliant and funny and well, just take a look.

After seeing this I can't help but want to play this game. It's different, combat looks awesome and fun and the dialogue is nothing short of spectacular.  It's what you'd come to expect from something based on the South Park universe. It is tragic, however, that Ubisoft has announced that the game has been pushed back from its original release date in December to March 4th.

Battlefield 4 Review Round-Up

The next iteration in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 4, hit store shelves yesterday and with every new iteration comes new a new story, new modes and a bigger bang altogether. However, does this new Battlefield hit the mark. Let's see what the critics have to say:

Game Informer
Score: 88
Battlefield 4 doesn't advance the series in any significant way, but the subtle improvements provide enough incentive for multiplayer fans to invest heavily in the land, air, and sea battles.GameSpot
Score: 80
So with five versions of the game spread across two generations of consoles, which is the best Battlefield? Unsurprisingly, the PC version remains on top with excellent visuals and sprawling 64-player matches that make the most of the great maps and incredible combat diversity.GameTrailers
Score: 95
Battlefield 4 is stout entry to the series and a strong addition to the PlayStation 4 launch lineup. As the first game to demonstrate the prowess of the Frostbite 3 engine, its explosive debut…

Kingdom Hearts 3 90 Seconds of Gameplay

About a week ago the first gameplay video of Kingdom Hearts 3 made its way to the internet. It came via the D23 Expo Japan2013 celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company and the 30th Anniversary of the Tokyo Disney Resort.

The trailer sees Sora and company doing battle against several baddies and displays several new gameplay mechanics. What totally slays me is the transformation the Keyblade goes through, becoming a blaster. This new transformation is called, wait for it, Keyblade Transformation and varies depending on the Keyblade equipped. This new element is sure to hold a lot of surprises when KH 3 launches, I'm excited at the possibilities.

The trailer then goes into Sora fighting enemies while riding on the helm of a Pirate Ship and a battle between Sora and a titan while riding a roller coaster, which is impressive to say the least. This is called the Attraction Flow which, as I understand it, is an evolution of the Free Flow from KH 3D.

Kingdom Hearts 3 was …

Grand Theft Auto V: Official Gameplay Video

Simply AMAZING. That's all I can say after watching the new gameplay trailer for Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto V. One aspect of the trailer I really found interesting was the ability to switch between the three main characters at any point. This opens the game to a lot more possibilities. Also there is SO much you can do in the game world, which means hours of fun to be had. Rockstar Games has a knack for pushing the boundaries with, not just gameplay, but also quality in their games and it looks like they aren't holding anything back for this one either. Grand Theft Auto V is slated to be released on September 17 and I can't wait to get my hands on this game.

E3: Bayonetta 2 E3 Trailer

When Nintendo first announced Bayonetta 2 would be coming to their platform as an exclusive title I thought the move was very surprising. Bayonetta is one of my favorite games and after seeing this trailer I can't wait to see what Platinum Games does with the sequel. I've fallen in love with her all over again, her short hair and blue guns (not to mention the over-the-top action) just look remarkable.

E3: Xbox 360 New Redesign

The Xbox 360 has already had a redesign before, bringing with it the sleeker, quieter unit that we've come to know. However, it seems that Microsoft still has one more redesign in mind. Let me introduce you to the new Xbox 360. Starting today a new model, which reflects the aesthetics of the Xbox One, will be available for purchase at the same price as the current models.

Did we really need another redesign? I don't think so. Know what else I think, it's all about marketing. I would have never thought of buying another Xbox 360, and probably won't, but the aspect of a new, redesigned console is very appealing.

E3: Xbox One Priced and Dated

During the Microsoft E3 Conference today, it was announced that the console will be released this November and will be priced at $499. Now that's quite the price point and I'm not completely sold on the Xbox One yet. During the Press Event Microsoft failed to clarify some of the aspects that came to light before.

GameInformer Reveals More About Infamous Second Son

Recently Game Informer revealed the cover for their June issue. This issue, which should be available now for digital subscribers and in a few weeks for printer subscribers, has be dubbed the "definitive" PlayStation 4 issue. It covers everything PS4, from the future of the console to the new swanky controller to games. Games like Infamous: Second Son from Sucker Punch. Second Son will have a 10-page spread in the issue that will most likely be filled with juicy bits about the upcoming PS4 exclusive.

Here's what I know so far about Infamous: Second Son (in list form, because who doesn't like a nice list):
The game takes place in  Seattle, now under lock down. You play as Delsin Rowe, a 24-year-old rebel with a cause.Cole MacGrath, the protagonist from the first two Infamous games, is in fact dead.Delsin doesn't know he is a Conduit at first and can absorb the abilities of others, a la Peter Petrelli from Heroes :). His first being the ability to control smoke. The D…

I'm looking forward to heading back to Borderlands 2 with a new character. Gaige was fun as all hells to play with, so I have high hopes for Krieg.

Video: Call Of Duty Ghosts Masked Men Teaser Trailer

Here's your first look at the next Call of Duty game. It's just a live action trailer will several masked men, which I'm guessing is a theme in the game, but this makes it official. The video ends with a message saying we'll be able to see the game in action at the Next Xbox event in a few weeks.

Video: Watch Dogs Out of Control Trailer and Release Date

Rumor Mill: The Next Call Of Duty

We've all become accustom to the yearly release of Activision's Call of Duty, so the listing that appeared online should come as no surprise to anyone. Slated to be released later this year, November 5 according to the Target listing, Call of Duty: Ghosts will be the next game in the franchise. We've seen games outed like this before and even though this may be a rumor right now, it could hold some credibility, especially given that E3 is right around the corner.

Rumor or not well have to wait for confirmation and based on what I've read it should be happening soon.

Next Xbox Event Scheduled for May 21st

No you didn't read the title wrong. According to an article up on GameInformer.com (HERE), Microsoft maybe set to reveal the next Xbox on May 21st in Redmond, Washington at 10 AM PDT/1 PM EST.

Mark the day on your calenders and be ready. I can honestly say that I haven't the slightest idea what Microsoft is planning for their next Xbox. There have been speculations and rumors floating about, especially that the console will require a constant internet connection that has been rubbing everyone the wrong way, however I'd like to wait for confirmation before weighing in. I'm expecting Microsoft to impress. Sony did a great job with their reveal of the PS4 (granted there wasn't an actual PS4 there) and anything less from Microsoft will utterly disappoint.

We've all been waiting for it and in under a month we'll be able to quell our curiosity.

500th Post

A little over a year ago I started Games News Network. I wanted a place to write about everything going on in the Video Game Industry and how I felt about it. It has been one crazy year and 499 posts later we're here. This post marks my 500th post and it also signifies this blog hitting over 10, 000 pages views. Now that may not seem like a lot but I'm thankful for this small accomplishment.

It's been some time since my last post, only dropping in to do small pieces. Rest assured I will return with a lot more to write about. There are a few impressions/reviews that I haven't posted yet and although the games have been out for several months, I'd still like to give my take on them.

So stay tuned, keep reading and I'll keep writing.

GameInformer Cover Reveals Batman: Arkham Origins

If you're looking for your next grapple-point into the Batman universe, here it is. Batman: Arkham Origins, set to be released on October 25th for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U, let's players take on the mantle of Dark Knight once again in a story that takes place before the other Arkham games. For this go-around, the game has been passed to the Warner Bros.  Montreal Studio (Yes, Rocksteady is NOT developing this one) as they aim to tell the story of Batman when he first encounters certain villains.

Disney Closes LucasArts

As I'm sure you've heard by now, Disney has closed developer/publisher LucasArts which it acquired awhile back. LucasArts has been in the game since the early 80s and to see it go like this may have come as quite a shock to most. At this point it's still up in the air what will happen to the projects they were working on, like Star Wars 1313, as they switch to a licensing based model. Below is an official statement made by the company:
After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I haven't even put ten hours into Assassin's Creed III and here comes an official trailer for the next installment of the game--Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. This one has a new protagonist, Edward Kenway, and is pirate themed (finally I get to be the Jack Sparrow like pirate I envisioned I'd be).  This one seems to be headed for all major consoles including next gen and is scheduled for a November 1st release. For a more detailed look head over HERE for a preview of the game.

Bungie Unveils Destiny

For a long time we were in the dark about Bungie's next big venture after handing the Halo series over to 343 Industries, who did a bang-up job with Halo 4 I might add. After images and details leaked awhile back and everyone heard the name Destiny tied with it, we wanted to know more. Bungie has officially lift the lid off their next project and here it is via the first ViDoc.

All I have to say about it right now is that it seems very ambitious and a complete departure from anything current out there right now. From what I've heard and seen it's not an MMO but is does let you play with friends and isn't subscription based. There is also a social aspect to it going by the integration with mobile devices. Hopefully we'll get to see actual gameplay at E3 or maybe before that in another ViDoc but until then check out the first ViDoc below.

The stores include Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Target. The console itself goes for $99.99 with an extra controller costing you $49.99. You can pre-order OUYA from the retailer of your choice above.

I'm really interested in seeing how this console fares with announcements imminent from both Microsoft and Sony regarding their new consoles.

News Byte: God Of War: Ascension Demo Coming

Sony has announced that there will be a God Of War: Ascension demo dropping late February. If you didn't get a chance to try the game when it was bundled with the Total Recall Blu-ray then now's your chance to give it a whirl.

Personally I'm not too excited about this prequel to the God of War series. I think where God Of War 3 left off was a brilliant way to keep the Kratos story alive and I'm more interested in seeing where they go from there than this.

Microsoft E3 Countdown

So something that I've been meaning to write about that caught my attention, and probably yours as well, the countdown clock that has appeared on Major Nelson's Blog. Click HERE to check it out. Basically the countdown is slated to expire this June just in time for E3. Now let your imagination run wild as to what this could possibly mean; many are speculating that the new Xbox will be announced. That seems the most likely contender but in my opinion it's far too early to tell and why the need for the added fluff. If it is indeed the announcement of the next Xbox then I commend Microsoft on being able to keep under wraps for so long.

If Microsoft does announce the next Xbox in June when will we see it. Will it release before the end of the year? maybe next year? and what about Sony and the PlayStation 4? Will that make an appearance at E3 this year? If it isn't about the next Xbox then what could it possibly be? There is too much you can speculate about, even though we g…

I cannot wait to see LEGO Spider-Man and please tell me Cyclops will be part of this game, ERMAHGERD!! Ahem, sorry about that, got abit carried away. Right then. I couldn't be more excited for this game, I've come to enjoy the silly antics that TT Games comes up with for their LEGO games and with this one pulling some major character it'll definitely be a fun play.

New Remember Me Trailer

Today we get a new trailer for Dontnod and Capcom's upcoming action game Remember Me. In the trailer we see several of the gameplay elements, including traversal, combat, and at the end an arena style boss fight with someone called Kid Xmas. Remember Me hits stores this May.

I'm looking forward to this one. After playing Deus Ex: HR, I'm hooked on games that let me explorer a futuristic city and this one lets you run wild in Neo-Paris. How cool is that?

Devil May Cry CG Trailer

Just give me this game already. As one of my most anticipated game for 2013, I'm ready to get my hands on the DmC: Devil May Cry remake. We're just under two weeks, so until then here's a new CG Trailer to hold us over until the game is released on January 15th.

Tomb Raider Multiplayer Details

A lot of you are probably having the same reaction I'm having right now. Which goes something like this, What? NO. Where the hell did this come from? News that the upcoming Tomb Raider will include a Multiplayer option was revealed last week, to the dismay of many. Today we have details on some of the modes and features that will be included in the game.

Team Deathmatch is your standard gametype where you play as either Lara's allies or  scavengers in a best-of-three match. You take turns switching between the two groups. Another mode, called Rescue, has you delivering Med-Packs to specific locations on the map while the opposing scavenger team has to rack up a certain number of kills. The last mode called Cry For Help revolves around the discovery and collection aspect of Tomb Raider.

It is said that the multiplayer maps aren't too wide open but offers environmental traps and destructible items. Player will have several characters to choose from and will be able to level th…
