Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Release Date

After Kingdom Heart 1.5 ReMIX was released last year, it looks like we'll be able to get our hands on the follow-up later this year. Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX will hit stores on December 2, exclusively on the PlayStation 3. With Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX comes Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Recoded. No matter how many times I see this game or play it, it always brings a tear to my eye. I love this entire franchise and, like all the fans out there, I can't wait to get my hands on this one. Enjoy the trailer below and the the small Kingdom Heart 3 tease at the end. ----- Courtesy of Games News Network

Disney Closes LucasArts

Image
As I'm sure you've heard by now, Disney has closed developer/publisher LucasArts which it acquired awhile back. LucasArts has been in the game since the early 80s and to see it go like this may have come as quite a shock to most. At this point it's still up in the air what will happen to the projects they were working on, like Star Wars 1313, as they switch to a licensing based model. Below is an official statement made by the company: After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.

Disney Acquires Lucasfilms

Image
This came as quite a surprise when it was first announced, Disney has acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion from owner George Lucas. This means that Disney now owns the rights to the Star Wars and Indiana Jones film franchises as well as several of the Lucasfilm franchises. With this acquisition Disney is now targeting 2015 for a release of Star Wars: Episode 7, with a film to follow every two to three years. Check out an interview with George Lucas where he discusses the future of Disney and Lucasfilm. Part One is below and part two can be found HERE .
