Bethesda & Game Reviews

Image
Bethesda, the studio behind well known games like Skyrim, Doom and the upcoming Dishonored 2 have gone on record and said that they will no longer be providing advanced review copies of their games to media outlets. They essentially said this:  "we want everyone, including those in the media, to experience our games at the same time." You can read what they had to say in it's entirety here . Honestly I see no problem with this. Often times reviews can make or break a game as some gamers hang on the words of those reviewing it. While there are those who don't. I know I guilty on both fronts and in the end it falls to your preference. --- Courtesy of Games News Network

Playing Several Massive Open World Games at Once

Image
I'm sure many of you have played games like The Witcher 3, Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 4, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the list goes on. The question is, have you played these massive open world games at the same time. I don't mean that in a literal sense but more in terms of jumping between these worlds in an aim to get to the end game, where the credits finally roll. I haven't and don't think I'd put myself in that kind of hell. Why is it hell? Let's get into that. Open World games these days are MASSIVE, usually taking up an entire real-world city or small country. Take The Witcher 3 for example. The game world is so expansive it takes you some time to travel from one end of the map to the other and that's one reason these games can be hell; their sheer size. Moreso if they don't have any type of fast travel system, traveling can be a task in itself. Can you image trying to play Skyrim without any sort of Fast Travel. It would take a player ages t...

Yesterday we talked about maybe hearing news on the Skyrim DLC next week; today players of the Skyrim PC game have discovered a few more DLC clues. After finding their way into the Skyrim update 1.5.26, they discovered a folder called "DLC01"--subtle I know. What they found within seems to be assets for Snow Elf characters and crossbows, additionally there appeared to be files pointing to new vampire animations. For all we know this could just be for the PC version of the game but for now it best now to look too much into this until we get some kind of confirmation. [via OXM ]

This morning a trailer was released showing off what Skyrim would be like with Kinect integration. My initial thoughts were that it couldn't be real and it was too good to be true. Turns out-it REAL and its coming. The video below goes into detail on what's possible with Skyrim and Kinect.

Skyrim Game Jam

Image
Skyrim is undoubtedly a great game. However, what happen when the developers take a week to do whatever they want with the game. Well the result is a list of impressive enhancements and tweaks that would make Skyrim the only game you play--EVER. Dragon mounts, new arrows, new spells and a new seasonal foliage system are just a few of what the developers came up with. Its not a sure thing that any of these changes will make it into the game but whatever gets put into the game it will be most welcomed and enjoyed. [via OXM ]
