Image Source: thexboxhub With August well underway, it's time for another month of free games for both the Xbox One and PlayStation Plus Stores (more on that in a subsequent post). This month the Xbox Games with Gold line-up is pretty good. For the month of August from August 1st to August 31st gamers will have instant access to Forza Horizon 2. Forza is an open-world racing game that continues the long line of Forza games, being the seventh in the series. This runs along with Death Squared that will wrap its time mid-August. Next up is For Honor. It follow's up Forza Horizon 2 and will be available from August 16 until September 15. For Honor is an action fighting game that has you taking on the role of Knights, Samurais or Vikings in a post-apocalyptic setting. So I just finished off Zer0 Sum, the first episode of Telltale Games latest series: Tales From The Borderlands and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I've played both of the Borderlands games, haven't tried the Pre-sequel yet, and I've played other Telltale Games. But there's something about Tales From The Borderlands that feels right at home in the craziness that is the Borderlands universe. Yes it's a point-and-click affair but everything Borderlands is here: loot and loot chests, guns, psycho migits, over-the-top badass action and lots of laughs. By the end of my playthrough I wanted to drive right back into Zer0 Sum and make different choices to see the outcome. There's a story here that's interesting in the way it's delivered and how it expands on the world of Borderlands after Handsome Jack  (*Spoilers*)  dies at the end of the second game. The forthcoming installment into the Borderlands franchise will set players atop the moon playing for the villain in Borderlands 2, Handsome Jack. We'll be able to see the rise of said villain come this October when the game is released on October 14th. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel brings NEW locations, enemies, weapons, vehicles and playable characters all while adhering to what made the first two game so fun to play. So there's this seven minute video of the upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth game and it is bloody brilliant and funny and well, just take a look. After seeing this I can't help but want to play this game. It's different, combat looks awesome and fun and the dialogue is nothing short of spectacular.  It's what you'd come to expect from something based on the South Park universe. The next iteration in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 4, hit store shelves yesterday and with every new iteration comes new a new story, new modes and a bigger bang altogether. However, does this new Battlefield hit the mark. Let's see what the critics have to say: Game Informer Score: 88 Battlefield 4 doesn't advance the series in any significant way, but the subtle improvements provide enough incentive for multiplayer fans to invest heavily in the land, air, and sea battles. Simply AMAZING. That's all I can say after watching the new gameplay trailer for Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto V. One aspect of the trailer I really found interesting was the ability to switch between the three main characters at any point. This opens the game to a lot more possibilities. Also there is SO much you can do in the game world, which means hours of fun to be had. Rockstar Games has a knack for pushing the boundaries with, not just gameplay, but also quality in their games and it looks like they aren't holding anything back for this one either. Grand Theft Auto V is slated to be released on September 17 and I can't wait to get my hands on this game.

This years Xbox LIVE Summer of Arcade has been dated and priced. It kicks off on August 7th with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and also includes Charlie Murder, Flashback and Teenage Mutant Turtle: Out of the Shadows. As a bonus, anyone who buys two of the above mentioned games receives a Soul Pack for Ascend: Hand of Kul free. The Xbox 360 has already had a redesign before, bringing with it the sleeker, quieter unit that we've come to know. However, it seems that Microsoft still has one more redesign in mind. Let me introduce you to the new Xbox 360. Starting today a new model, which reflects the aesthetics of the Xbox One, will be available for purchase at the same price as the current models. Did we really need another redesign? I don't think so. Know what else I think, it's all about marketing. I would have never thought of buying another Xbox 360, and probably won't, but the aspect of a new, redesigned console is very appealing. --- Courtesy of Games News Network

The next Vault Hunter, Krieg, will be making his way to Borderlands 2 on May 14th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Steam in the form of the Psycho Pack DLC. The DLC will be available for $10/800 MSP and is NOT part of the Season Pass. I'm looking forward to heading back to Borderlands 2 with a new character. Gaige was fun as all hells to play with, so I have high hopes for Krieg.

If you're looking for your next grapple-point into the Batman universe, here it is. Batman: Arkham Origins, set to be released on October 25th for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U, let's players take on the mantle of Dark Knight once again in a story that takes place before the other Arkham games. For this go-around, the game has been passed to the Warner Bros.  Montreal Studio (Yes, Rocksteady is NOT developing this one) as they aim to tell the story of Batman when he first encounters certain villains. Capcom has dropped word that the Vergil's Downfall DLC will be released on March 5th and 6th for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 respectively. It will run you $8.99/720 MSP if you didn't pre-order the game from certain retails and receive a redeem code for the DLC. Recently a title update for DmC: Devil May Cry was released, allowing you to access the Bloody Palace.

For a long time we were in the dark about Bungie's next big venture after handing the Halo series over to 343 Industries, who did a bang-up job with Halo 4 I might add. After images and details leaked awhile back and everyone heard the name Destiny tied with it, we wanted to know more. Bungie has officially lift the lid off their next project and here it is via the first ViDoc.  All I have to say about it right now is that it seems very ambitious and a complete departure from anything current out there right now. From what I've heard and seen it's not an MMO but is does let you play with friends and isn't subscription based. There is also a social aspect to it going by the integration with mobile devices. Hopefully we'll get to see actual gameplay at E3 or maybe before that in another ViDoc but until then check out the first ViDoc below.

With the new year under way we're expected to see several new releases in the next coming weeks. This week, however, is pretty tame with the releases--actually I'd say the industry is still on holiday. But enough of that, let's take a look at what games are getting released this week. It has been announced that a Hitman HD Collection will be released next year. The collection will feature Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money. If you've ever wanted to get into the series or if you're a fan then here's you chance.

This new Hitman: Absolution goes over one of the new features of the game--instinct mode, which allows you to see the game world as Agent 47 would. Hitman: Absolution hits stores on November 20th.

We heard awhile back that Microsoft would be using a new subscription system and pricing for the Xbox 360. Well here's all the detail. Starting this Sunday, October 28th, Microsoft will be rolling out their Entertainment for All subscription bundles. These bundles will include the following(pictured above): A 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for $99 A 250GB Xbox 360 for $99 A 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for $149 Now with these new bundles there is a catch. Those buying one will also have to comply with the required 2yr Xbox Live Gold Membership agreement at $14.99 per month. Gamestop, Toys R Us, BestBuy, Walmart and the Microsoft store will all have these available online and in stores on or after the 28th. Who's up for a new Xbox?

I hope this new Bioshock Infinite trailer does it for you because it surely did for me. Media and news on Ken Levine's latest venture has been non-existent for the past few months until the announcement of the Collector's Editions last week and now this trailer. So it's been some time since we've heard anything about Anarchy Reigns, Sega multiplayer brawler. Well here's some good news, the game is scheduled to be released on Jan 8th in the US and Jan 11th in Europe--FINALLY. The kicker is that the game has a suggested price of $29.99, which is quite low for a new retail game. It begs the question WHY? but far be it for me to question a reasonable price.
