Rumor Mill: The Next Call Of Duty

Image
We've all become accustom to the yearly release of Activision's Call of Duty, so the listing that appeared online should come as no surprise to anyone. Slated to be released later this year, November 5 according to the Target  listing , Call of Duty: Ghosts will be the next game in the franchise. We've seen games outed like this before and even though this may be a rumor right now, it could hold some credibility, especially given that E3 is right around the corner. Rumor or not well have to wait for confirmation and based on what I've read it should be happening soon. -- Courtesy of Games News Network

Next Xbox Event Scheduled for May 21st

Image
No you didn't read the title wrong. According to an article up on GameInformer.com ( HERE ), Microsoft maybe set to reveal the next Xbox on May 21st in Redmond, Washington at 10 AM PDT/1 PM EST.  Mark the day on your calenders and be ready. I can honestly say that I haven't the slightest idea what Microsoft is planning for their next Xbox. There have been speculations and rumors floating about, especially that the console will require a constant internet connection that has been rubbing everyone the wrong way, however I'd like to wait for confirmation before weighing in. I'm expecting Microsoft to impress. Sony did a great job with their reveal of the PS4 (granted there wasn't an actual PS4 there) and anything less from Microsoft will utterly disappoint. We've all been waiting for it and in under a month we'll be able to quell our curiosity.  -- Courtesy of Games News Network

500th Post

Image
A little over a year ago I started Games News Network. I wanted a place to write about everything going on in the Video Game Industry and how I felt about it. It has been one crazy year and 499 posts later we're here. This post marks my 500th post and it also signifies this blog hitting over 10, 000 pages views. Now that may not seem like a lot but I'm thankful for this small accomplishment. It's been some time since my last post, only dropping in to do small pieces. Rest assured I will return with a lot more to write about. There are a few impressions/reviews that I haven't posted yet and although the games have been out for several months, I'd still like to give my take on them. So stay tuned, keep reading and I'll keep writing. -Courtesy of Games News Network

If you're looking for your next grapple-point into the Batman universe, here it is. Batman: Arkham Origins, set to be released on October 25th for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U, let's players take on the mantle of Dark Knight once again in a story that takes place before the other Arkham games. For this go-around, the game has been passed to the Warner Bros.  Montreal Studio (Yes, Rocksteady is NOT developing this one) as they aim to tell the story of Batman when he first encounters certain villains. Disney Closes LucasArts

Image
As I'm sure you've heard by now, Disney has closed developer/publisher LucasArts which it acquired awhile back. LucasArts has been in the game since the early 80s and to see it go like this may have come as quite a shock to most. At this point it's still up in the air what will happen to the projects they were working on, like Star Wars 1313, as they switch to a licensing based model. Below is an official statement made by the company: After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.
