It's been a long time in the making. Borderlands 2 came out years ago (in 2012) so did all the spin-off games. Borderlands 3 is set to be released later this year and see's four new vault hunters taking on a new villain--villains I should say. New mechanics, new worlds and your very own ship. What Borderlands has always been known for are the insane amount of guns. This time Gearbox is doing something different, guns now have an alternative fire mode which gives you lots of options. I... can't... wait. As one of the pioneers of the looter shooter genre, Borderlands has been one of my favorite games to play. I love everything about the world and the characters. Kingdom Hearts III has gone GOLD. To say that sounds like something so long in the making; to be able to finally say it feels surreal. We have just a little over two months to catch up on the previous games (should you so choose) but I know I'll be doing that. I can't believe it's finally about to happen. Crossplay has been one of the most player-requested features for this generation of gamers, for as long as I can remember. I mean who wouldn't want to play with their best buddy on another platform like the Xbox One or the Switch--think of the possibilities. Well as of September 26th Sony has made the first step toward making that possible. The only catch is, it's only set up for Fortnite.  Fortnite players on PS4 can now play with gamers on Xbox One, Switch, Android, iOS, Windows and Mac computers. In the PlayStation blog that announced this, John Kodera said this: We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective. Granted this is only for Fortnite and it's only in BETA, this is a great first step to getting crossplay with more games down the road.  Personally, I think this is great. I have friend...

The more I see of this game the more I can't get my hands on it. We've know for a long time that Big Hero 6 was going to be one of the new worlds in Kingdom Hearts III but this is our first time seeing so much of how our hero's; Sora, Donald and Goofy, interact with this world. We've all been eager to see what Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been planning for their Battle Royal mode and here it is. This is most certainly a Black Ops game. The gameplay shows off so much, it's impossible to just imagine how crazy this mode will be. One thing I can say is that it looks intense. From ATVs to Helicopters, even Wingsuits. With Gamescom 2018 kicking off today it's no surprise that we're getting new information about a recently announced, fan favorite, Devil May Cry V . Nero is back but this time he's different, well his arm is at least. In the demo (below) we see him utilizing a robotic, disposable arm that gets used up as he continues to fight demons. What's interesting is that as he uses them up he's able to replenish them as pickups from the environment around him. Devil May Cry has always been over the top and the trailer doesn't pull any punches there. From riding a rocket to using a bike as a weapon only to ride it again. Only Devil May Cry can pull something some wonderful off. I was never expecting to get a release date for this so soon after it was announced but it seems we'll be able to get our hands on this early next year on March 8th. Battlefield V returns to World War II after success with Battlefield 1 and from this trailer it looks grand in both scale and action. Battlefield V is set to release on October 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. ==== Courtesy of Games News Network

If the Doom Eternal gameplay demo didn't get you excited enough then here's more from Rage 2, that should get you going. It's more of the same that we've seen before but damn is it good. Rage 2 is adding so much more this time around, from more indebt vehicle combat to far more to do with the Wingstick. Oh, my... On my way to hang out with some friends yesterday, I saw this pop up on my Youtube feed. Little did I realize at the time that Quakecon 2018 was underway. I kick myself for not being aware. With that being said, Id Software demoed a seven-minute, pure action, pure heart racing, edge of your seat gameplay demo for their upcoming Doom Eternal. In this demo, they show off new weapons, new mods for your weapons, new ways of traversal and new enemy types. There's even an arm-mounted retractable blade and what seems to be a should cannon that doubles as both a flamethrower and rocket launcher. Image courtesy of Rockstar Games Rockstar Games has announced that the official gameplay video of their upcoming, highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption II will drop tomorrow, Thursday, August 9th at 11AM EST (oh what joy 😃). With Red Dead Redemption II set for release on October 26th, it's nice to finally get a look at the gameplay for this game. Knowing Rockstar, expect some interesting gameplay. Tekken is one of the best and longest running fighting franchises out there. With Tekken 7 being out for more than two years now fans are still receiving more from the developer. Talk about fan service. This time around it's the announcement of additional characters coming to the game including Anna Williams and Lei Wulong (one of my favs from past games). That's not all however, there will also be a Walking Dead character crossing over. That character is none other than Negan. He marks one of six new characters coming to the game for Season Pass 2. Image Source: thexboxhub With August well underway, it's time for another month of free games for both the Xbox One and PlayStation Plus Stores (more on that in a subsequent post). This month the Xbox Games with Gold line-up is pretty good. For the month of August from August 1st to August 31st gamers will have instant access to Forza Horizon 2. Forza is an open-world racing game that continues the long line of Forza games, being the seventh in the series. This runs along with Death Squared that will wrap its time mid-August. Next up is For Honor. It follow's up Forza Horizon 2 and will be available from August 16 until September 15. For Honor is an action fighting game that has you taking on the role of Knights, Samurais or Vikings in a post-apocalyptic setting. On the Xbox 360 backward compatibility front, we start the month out with Dead Space 3 which will be available from August 1st through the 15th. Dead Space 3 is a co-op survival horror game and ...

I have to say that I went into this Microsoft E3 Press Conference with little expectations. As I watch the conference and write this at the same time they did not disappoint. Or rather, they didn't impress. They hit the same beats they always do, sticking to their well-establish franchises and not venturing out and showing anything new. The conference opens with a Halo: Infinite tease and then goes into games that we all know are coming. Crackdown 3, We Happy Few, Forza, Gears; you get the idea. They showed off a new trailer for Fallout 76 and a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III (LOVED IT) and a few other upcoming titles but nothing really NEW. We got a Division 2 trailer and gameplay reveal. It looks great but we all remember what happened when The Division first debuted at E3 and the final game we got when it was released. We also got an announcement and trailer for Gears 5. Can't say that I didn't see that one coming but I did.  One thing I have to ...

There has been an ongoing debate as to the current state of the video game industry as it concerns single-player games and if it's dying out. Now, I can completely understand where this is coming from in light of recent trends where games have adopted more of a service model to get gamers to shell out more money over time. I have my own grievances with that but I won't go into that here. With that being said, I have to say that I don't believe that single-player games are on their way out. Here's why. While more and more games are becoming multiplayer focused with the inclusion of certain services, take for instance  Overwatch  and more recently PUBG  but let's not also forget Assasin's Creed Origins . We're seeing that games are coming with ways for publishers to get gamers to spend more than just the price of the game. If it's not a season pass or special editions of these games then there are loot boxes and add-ons to make the game more accessib...

OMG. There are certain instances when E3 is happening that a great game is announced. This is that instance. BIOWARE just announced their next game and man is it beautiful. It's an open-world RPG much like, and I hate to make the comparison but, Destiny. Only thing is, it looks so accessible. I'll get the Xbox One X just so that I can play this game with friends and experience it at it's best.

Telltale, Oh Telltale. How you weave such a great narrative. The latest Walking Dead from Telltale Games is slated to be related in a few short weeks on December 20th. In this trailer we get an idea of how the zombie outbreak affected new comer Javier. I have some catching up to do. There's no way I'm jumping into A New Frontier without refreshing myself of Telltale's previous Walking Dead games. Just have to get through the latest episode of Batman. With the end of the year quickly approaching it's that time again. The Game Awards are slated for December 1st at 9 PM EST at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Pretty soon we'll get to see which games are elected winner of their respective categories. With 2016 begin a great year for games, the Awards will be exciting, to say the least, plus the possibility of getting a glimpse at upcoming games isn't bad either. If you're looking to tune into the Game Awards, you can catch it on several platforms including: YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch. You can also watch it on your Xbox One or PS4. It's N7 day, the day that has become synonymous with everything Mass Effect. Today we are celebrating Mass Effect Andromeda with a Cinematic Reveal trailer. In the trailer we get to meet our protagonist that will herald us into the new frontier, our pathfinder. We also get a glimpse of our enemy, monsters and the environments we'll get to visit. If this trailer is any indication of what this game will be like, I think one word sums it up -- EPIC. I have to say from the brief pieces of gameplay mixed in throughout this trailer the game looks beautiful and I wouldn't expect anything less. My wish for Andromeda is to put me back into that same place that Mass Effect 2 did. Expect to get your hands on Mass Effect Andromeda next Spring. --- Courtesy of Games News Network

It goes without saying that there aren't may fans of a game having a season pass, myself included. If feels as though they're hiding the content behind an additional fee.
